The Complaint Department: Hypocrites

Complaint:

I don’t go to church because it’s full of hypocrites!

Response:

        The Church is not full of perfect people, it’s true.  Our Lord tells us that He came to those who are ill, not those who are well.  As your priest, I do expect everyone, including you, to deal with your prejudices and your hypocrisies continually.  If you think you have none, then think again!  Church is for worship of the Lord, not for comparing yourself with others.  If you must make that comparison, then use some compassion and realize that we are more alike than different.  We all have faults – we all need the Lord.  Come to church.  There’s always room for one more sinner.  Let’s not turn our back on one another.  Let’s help each other in His name!
