FROM THE PARISH PRIEST
Coming to Church On Time
by Fr. Romey Rosco
I realize that it is better to come to church late rather than not at all.
I also understand that some (not all) of our parishioners live far away
from church. What I don’t accept
is how so many of us have come to consider habitual late attendance as a normal
and acceptable practice. Habitually
coming late, if it can be avoided, is an insult to the Lord in Whose house we
gather, it is disturbing to other worshippers and sets a bad example.
We would not go to a concert, a play or a sports event for the last
fifteen or twenty minutes. And if
invited to a friend’s house for dinner, we would not show up only for dessert,
skipping a whole meal prepared for us. So,
why do we treat God like this, and then expect His blessings?
Make every effort – better yet, get
into the habit of attending church on time for the service.
Don’t just acknowledge the Lord in your life.
Be faithful to Him!
