Worship is an Act of Love

        When you love someone, you say it in words.  In the Divine Liturgy, we begin by offering our words of praise and love of God through our petitions and hymns.  Yet, as we give our words, God gives us His own Word, so rich, meaningful and instructive in the Epistle and Gospel Readings.

        Love does not stop with words because words are not enough.  We then give gifts; we take basic foods, the Biblical sustenance of bread and wine.  we offer them to God, Who then takes these same gifts and gives them back to us in a different form: He offers us His precious Body and Blood, not only for our physical well-being, but for our spiritual health.

        Our Lord has given us so many gifts.  He has shown us His Great Love in so many ways, through so many blessings.  We must be able to respond, not by being neglectful or closed-minded towards Him, nor self-seeking or self-centered, but rather with a willingness to serve His Holy Will.

        Our responsibility towards Him is to keep on working, keep on serving, keep on doing what the Lord expects of us.
