FROM THE PARISH PRIEST
Every Sunday of the Year Belongs to God
by Fr. Romey Rosco
We all know that one of the Ten Commandments is “Remember to keep holy the Sabbath Day.”
Well, this coming weekend will put us all to the test.
Sunday, December 24, is Christmas Eve.
Monday, December 25, is Christmas Day.
While the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is a major
feast day for Orthodox Christians and, therefore, we are all called to
celebrate that day properly in worship, so too must we honor the
Sabbath in worship of the Lord and His Holy Resurrection for our salvation.
It is not a time to pick and
choose which day you’ll come to church.
We are all of us, adults and children alike, called to God’s House on
both days. Don’t look at it as an
“obligation,” nor as an imposition. Rather,
be thankful for the extra opportunity to praise the Lord!
“You, Lord, are faithful to those who are faithful, and completely
good to those who are good; You are pure to those who are pure.” (Psalm
18:25-26)
