C.O.C.C. Lenten Vespers & Reception
Sunday, 14 March 2010

V.Rev. Fr. Roman Star, president of the St. John Chrysostom Clergy Brotherhood of Detroit, welcomes his Grace Bishop IRINEU at the entrance. The serving clergy receive the blessing from the bishop. A dozen priests served the vespers service.  Each week during Great Lent each year the Council of Orthodox Christian Churches holds a Vespers service in a different church.
His Grace, Bishop IRINEU attended at the throne. "Wisdom! Arise!"
V.Rev. Fr. James Jorgenson gave the sermon. The responses were led by a choir comprised of singers from various parishes in the Detroit area.
During the reading of The Prayer of St. Ephraim. V. Rev. Fr. Laurence Lazar gives the final blessing at the dismissal. Fr. Romey welcomes everyone to our church.
Following the service, many of the people gathered in the parish hall for a Lenten reception. At the reception, V.Rev. Fr. John Behr, dean of St. Vladimir Seminary in New York, offered a few remarks on the work of the seminary.
The president of the Council of Orthodox Christian Churches, thanked everyone for attending and made a short presentation on the work of the C.O.C.C.
