Resurrection Matins, Divine Liturgy & Reception on Easter Sunday

"Come receive the light!" The faithful light their candles from the single light brought out of the altar. The procession makes its way out of the candle-lit church.

The clergy and faithful process around the church.

The procession stops at the main doors of the church... ...where the Resurrection Matins service begins.

"Open the gates you princes, and let the King of Glory enter!"

Everyone re-enters a now brightly-lit church. Fr. Romey censes the church during the singing of the Paschal Canon. "Christ is Risen! Hristos a Inviat!"
Director Theodor Vingarzan leads the choir as they sing the responses.

Cantors Mircea Vasiu, Petrica Malacu & Dumitru Capatina sing the Paschal Canon. Fr. Horaţiu censes the church during the Paschal Canon. Fr. Romey gives the dismissal blessing of the Resurrection Matins service.
The baskets of Paschal foods brought by the faithful are then blessed with Holy Water... ..."in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen." Later that morning, the Resurrection Divine Liturgy was celebrated.
Fr. Romey reads the Holy Gospel announcing the good news of the Resurrection. The parish choir again leading the responses.

The faithful receive Holy Communion.
"Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and, upon those in the tombs, bestowing life." The ladies prepare the Easter Social in the parish hall.
Ladies of the parish made and brought a variety of pastries and colored hard-boiled eggs. Nick Barbosa and George Brailean helping to distribute the paşti.
